The latest incarnation of “The Brady Bunch” is a whole new spin on the classic series. In this version, the six original members of the classic sitcom team up with HGTV celebrities to remodel the iconic real life `Brady Bunch` house in L.A. In this second installment, the main characters are Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Allison Janney, Michael Chiklis, and actress Nicole Kidman. This quartet of Hollywood power players get to save the day again when they are asked to broker a deal between a construction company and a small local group.
“The Brady Bunch” is one of the most iconic shows in television history – A total thrill package, “The Brady Bunch” is a hilarious series that follows the misadventures of its central characters from the very beginning, right up until the very end. The show chronicles the many ups and downs of the unlikely couple: siblings Kevin and Christine, as well as their friend, Joe. They strive to maintain their own personal happiness while maintaining a social routine in order to support their growing families. The central theme of this show, as previously mentioned, is family; this installment incorporates an equally important aspect of the family in the form of four digital series: “The Brady Bunch Live,” “The Brady Bunch Scandal,” “The Brady Bunch Wedding Concert Experience,” and “The Brady Bunch Reunion Party.”
The first digital series of “The Brady Bunch Live” features the extended family – complete with Kevin, Christine, and their friend, Joe. When a tragic event occurs in the neighborhood, the entire household is displaced, including the family dog, Fifi. Relocating to a new home is not easy for any family, but the Pritchets are determined to make it happen, as they embark on a massive renovation project. The renovation includes renovations both big and small-from the front porch to the dining room, bedroom, and bathroom, making the Pritchets’ new home a home that everyone can enjoy.
The second digital series – “The Brady Bunch Scandal” takes place twenty years after the events of the first episode, as Joe Pritchett is accused of orchestrating a cover up after his friend’s death. The case revolves around the question of who may have killed his best friend, and where the truth will lead them. A new Discovery Studios mina star called Constance Bridges plays the role of one of the main suspects in the investigation, and reveals more about the case than we were given in the premiere. The mina starsisks a few plot twists that didn’t make much sense to me at first, but I got hooked halfway through the episode. The great thing about “The Brady Bunch Scandal” is that it wasn’t trying to pull anything over at me, and I didn’t feel the need to watch the rest of the season just to find out what happens.
The third episode, “The Best Laid Plans” – is a little less suspenseful, but no less thrilling. This time around, Lola and Patrick must save the day together, even if only in part thanks to some convincing speeches from Patrick. The storyline here is a little less focused on a case, but the two minas still manage to provide hilarious comedy. The Best Laid Plans’ format works quite well, allowing for different characters to come into play at different times, and keeping the story entertaining.
The final four renovation episodes of “The Brady Bunch” – bring us back to our regularly scheduled show. The first few minutes feature an emotional conversation between Lola and Patrick regarding how the relationship came to be in the state that it currently is. They also talk about how Lola met Patrick, and how he ended up dating her. The show closes with a shocking discovery about how the affair even took place.
While this show could use a bit more content, the pace is steady enough that you shouldn’t mind watching all the way through.
